Theme settings

Theme settings are the global, store-wide options that apply everywhere, from colour schemes and typography through to the shared styling pattern every section uses.

Every section

Almost every section in Rotate shares the same four styling controls. They're documented here once so each section's own article can just point back to this list.

Setting What it does
Color scheme Sets the section's background, text, and border colors from your theme's color schemes.
Content style Standard, Filled, or Outlined. Filled adds background color to cards. Outlined adds a border. Choose a Content color scheme when using Filled or Outlined.
Framing text style Adds vertical rotated text to the left or right of the section: None, Left, Right, Mirror (the same text on both sides), or Both (different text on each side). Also sets how it behaves on mobile (Horizontal or Hidden) and its color scheme. See how to use framing text.
Advanced styling Switch on Override default styles to reveal Space above, Space below, Heading and Text size, Alignment, Framing text size, Framing text anchor, and a Background image, all on a scale from -2 to 3, where -2 is much smaller, 0 is default, and 3 is much larger. Colors

  • Color schemes - manage the color schemes used throughout your store here (add, edit, or remove). Every section and block picks from this list.
  • Default color scheme - the fallback used wherever a section doesn't set its own.

Typography

Headings

Setting What it does
Heading font The font used for headings.
Scale Increases or decreases heading size.
Line height The vertical space between lines of heading text.
Letter spacing The horizontal space between letters.
Uppercase Renders headings in capitals.

Body text

Setting What it does
Body font The font used for paragraphs and general text.
Scale Increases or decreases body text size.
Line height The vertical space between lines of body text.
Letter spacing The horizontal space between letters.

Buttons

Setting What it does
Button font The font used on buttons.
Scale Increases or decreases button text size.
Letter spacing The horizontal space between letters.
Uppercase Renders button text in capitals.

Design features

Setting What it does
Border style Solid, Dashed, or Dotted. Applied globally to cards, nav, newsletter boxes, countdown and icon blocks.
Border width How thick borders render.
Border pattern Short, Regular, or Extended. Controls dash and gap spacing for dashed and dotted borders.
Icon The collapsible row's open/close icon: Plus/Minus, Chevron, or Caret.
Framing text size Base size of the vertical framing text on sections that use it. Each section can scale it further under its own Advanced styling.
Button corner radius, Card corner radius, Image corner radius 0 is sharp corners, 5 is maximum roundness.

Product media

Setting What it does
Zoom behavior How shoppers enlarge a product image. Zoom on click magnifies under the cursor (desktop only). Pop up opens the image full size in a window.
Show thumbnails, Show arrows, Show navigation dots Set separately for desktop and mobile. Only applies when a section's product media layout is set to Slider.
Thumbnail ratio Square, Portrait, or Landscape.

Product card

Setting What it does
Image ratio Adapt to image, Portrait, Landscape, or Square.
Second image None, Hover swap, or Slider. How the second product image is displayed, if uploaded.
Show vendor Displays the product's vendor on the card.
Enable quick add to cart Adds a quick add control to the card.
Quick add style Icon or Button.
Sale badge Text, Amount saved, or Percentage off.
Badge color scheme The color scheme used for the sale badge.
Show product subtitles on cards Requires a Subtitle value on the product's metafield (Settings > Custom data > Products). Truncates with an ellipsis after one line, roughly 30 to 40 characters depending on card size.

Blog card

Setting What it does
Image ratio Adapt to image, Portrait, Landscape, or Square.
Show tag Displays the post's tag on the card.
Tag filter Show all tags, Show only these tags, or Hide these tags.
Tags Comma-separated tag names, used with the Tag filter above.
Show excerpt Displays a short excerpt on the card.
Show author Displays the post author.
Show date Displays the publish date.
Show read time Displays an estimated read time.

Social media

  • Add a link for each platform you use: Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, and LinkedIn. These populate the social icons wherever they appear (typically the footer).
  • Share on Facebook, Share on X, Share on Pinterest, Share on LinkedIn - toggle which platforms appear in share icon blocks.
  • Sharing image - the default image used when a page is shared on social and doesn't have its own image set.

Search

  • Enable predictive search - shows live product, article, and page suggestions as customers type.
  • Show vendor and Show price - shown in the predictive search results.

Cart

Setting What it does
Cart popup Notification or Cart preview. Cart preview replaces the cart page: the header cart icon opens it and it shows the full cart. Notification briefly confirms the added item; the cart icon links to the cart page.
Show cart note Lets customers leave an order note, on both the cart page and the cart popup.
Require agreement before checkout Adds a checkbox customers must tick before the checkout button works, on both the cart page and the cart popup. Does not apply to dynamic checkout buttons. Set the Agreement text underneath, and link words to your policy pages.
Free shipping threshold Order total, in your store currency, that unlocks free shipping.

Favicon

  • Favicon image - the icon shown in the browser tab. Recommended size: 32 x 32px.
